ONCR Volunteer


Thank you for considering volunteering with Old North Canine Rescue (ONCR). We are a non-profit rescue for shelter and other homeless dogs. We also conduct a variety of education and outreach activities. Volunteers with a variety of skills are needed to save these animals and find them their forever homes. volunteer Positions

  • Transportation – driving and arranging transport of dogs to pick up locations
  • Home Visits – check out prospective applications to ensure our dogs are going to good homes
  • Photographer – take fun pictures of dogs for our website, Facebook page and posters
  • Grant writer – help us find funds to support our rescue
  • Web programmer – keep us up to date with the latest technology and use of apps
  • Transport – dog taxi when fosters are unable to transport to vet appointments
  • Pet Helpline – provide telephone support (we provide phone and handbook) when families call with questions or concerns about their pet
  • Intake Coordinator Pet Helpline – assigns tasks (calls) to Pet Helpline volunteers
  • Event set up and clean up – enjoy playing with dogs and being apart of events and fundraising parties
  • Marketing – help create flyers, facebook posts and posters to recruit volunteers and help network available dogs

*Under 18 Policy
ONCR strives to ensure the safety of every volunteer. If you are under the age of 18, there are a few simple guidelines that must be adhered to in regards to ouf policies.

  • No minor under the age of 16 can volunteer without a parent present at all times
  • All minor volunteers MUST attend orientation prior to volunteering
