Old North Canine Connection

How to find a rescue dog:

You would never guess that supermodel, Ford, was a terrified, shivering mess in the shelter. He was overlooked by many because of his shyness and fear. However, an Old North volunteer knew that Ford was special and had great potential. He met a fantastic couple and has a wonderful family!

We understand that shelters can be overwhelming, depressing and frightening. We have also spent enough time with dogs in the shelters to know that it takes time to thoroughly assess a shelter dog. They need time to relax and destress to truly know their personality.

Old North Canine Rescue introduces the Canine Connection program

  • Complete the Canine Connection Application/Questionaire
  • Submit your $25 deposit which will go towards the adoption fee of any dog you choose to adopt from Old North within three months
  • Our Canine Connection Coordinator will be in contact with you and your family to get a better understanding of the right pet for you (age, size, breed, temperament, etc…), how far you are willing to travel to meet a pet and your time frame for adoption.
  • We will search area shelters to find a dog that matches the needs of your family. We will facilitate introductions with you and your family. If you choose to adopt, ONCR will ensure the dog is fully vetted (vaccinations, heartworm test, dewormed), spayed/neutered and microchipped. The adoption fee is $150 for dogs 6 months and over and $175 for puppies. We offer ongoing support for all medical issues and behavioral problems that may arise.
